Opening night at the World Evangelical Alliance Global Assembly 2008.
The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has opened registration for its upcoming General Assembly (GA2014) that will be held in Seoul, South Korea on October 19-26, 2014. The GA2014 will bring together the WEA's diverse constituency with Christian leaders coming from up to 200 countries and territories to explore the theme of 'Following Jesus Christ into the World'.
"We are excited to invite our global constituency to this significant gathering. The GA2014 offers us a unique opportunity to not only have fellowship and celebration, but to practically work together to deal with some of the major challenges facing the Church today," said Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe, Secretary General of the WEA.

Growing Biblical illiteracy and nominalism, increase in religious persecution of different kinds, poverty and people at risk especially in countries where there is conflict. These and other issues go beyond single countries and organizations, and are faced daily by pastors and leaders in local churches and communities all over the world.
With its regional and national Evangelical Alliances, other globally-minded member and partner organizations and the WEA's specialized commissions, initiatives and task forces, the WEA envisions the GA2014 to be a working assembly where, together, participants focus on delivering practical outcomes that benefit local churches and communities worldwide.
Topics are divided up into different program tracks that each offer a variety of workshops and roundtables, and conclude with a two day consultation.
The nine program tracks are:
- Strengthening Church Health
- Developing Healthy Alliances
- Developing Healthy Families and Youth
- Developing Healthy Stewardship
- Loving God, Loving Justice
- Engaging Missiological Reflection, Living Mission Action
- Loving Neighbors of Different Beliefs
- Promoting Religious Freedom, Facing Persecution
- Seeking Transformation through Business.
"The GA2014 aims to equip our constituency to more effectively address the unique needs of our world today," Dr. Tunnicliffe added. "And we also want to explore new opportunities to build God's Kingdom together."
