Starting From Helping The ONE (For Every Christian)

By GospelVideo

Every week, I get texts and emails requesting prayer.  And I am talking about some real deal, hard-core, prayer requests.  Women raped, children sexually abused, infants battling cancer, affairs in marriages, families facing homelessness...

Honestly, some days it feels like too much for me and I find myself uttering prayers that seem like weak whispers compared to the grandiosity of the pain people are facing.

BUT GOD IS BIGGER... and it is never too much for Him.  I have to remind myself of this often. He is Redeemer.  He is the Restorer of places long devastated (Is 61:4).

Often these prayer requests are being sent by friends and family who are looking for help for their loved ones.  Along with the prayer request there is often a question.  "Is there something you can do?" they ask.

But you don't have to be in full-time, vocational ministry to show up for someone.  As those who believe, we are all his ambassadors,  his aroma, a letter from Jesus written on human hearts. (2Cor 5:20, 2Cor 2:15, 2Cor 3:3).   It's not just within our capacity, but it is our responsibility to show up.

I also hear from people who have great ideas for non-profits they want to start in order to meet a need they are passionate about.

Non-profits are great, but don't have to have a non-profit to do something good.  You don't have to have a sock ministry to give a homeless person a pair of socks on a cold night.  You don't have to have a 501c3 to bring someone facing terminal illness a meal.  Don't let the big vision dream paralyze you.

Start with what's in your hands today.  I believe some of the most wonderful ventures are birthed out of people who are faithful with the ONE.  The one person, the one need...the ONE.  Really it never gets "bigger" than the one.
