Amazon Top Gear Premiere Date, News, and Updates: All Details About the Upcoming Amazon's Top Gear
(Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond) have now transferRed to Amazon Prime and will be premiering this year. The trio is now filming and have transferRed office, but what are the details for the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear'?
Here's the latest on Amazon's Top Gear premiere date, news, and updates.
In case you are wondering, yes Top Gear still exists; however it's no longer the same. When BBC has decided to suspend Jeremy Clarkson, the whole game joined him; including James May and Richard Hammond. So what's next for the boys? Well Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO) took advantage of being able to have his own Top Gear and hire these.
So if you are a fan of the trio, you shouldn't fret as you can still see them soon. So what do we know about the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear'?
The presenter will still be the same, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. In Hammond's Twitter account he posted, "The band is back together and it feels brilliant."
Their Move to Amazon
When Clarkson left BBC, the presenter had a lot of offers including; Sky, ITV, Netflix, and Hulu. However, after months of negotiation, their producer Andy Wilman announced that they have signed with Amazon Prime.
He added, "It was very parochial the way this whole thing started. It's not our forte doing deals. We're all crap at business."
The report from The Independent suggests that the only reason why they decided to go to Amazon is because "ITV wouldn't let them make the show they wanted and Netflix reportedly weren't that interested". According to Wilman, one of the things that he trio wanted to do was to be able to work independently.
"We love the people down at ITV, but we couldn't do it," Wilman added.
When it comes to Amazon, here's what Wilman has to say, "Everyone we have talked to has told us: 'They leave you alone to make your show'. That's a big one for us - we don't like interference, we don't need to be policed."
Amazon Top Gear in 4K
If this is not exciting enough, Jeremy Clarkson also confirmed that the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear' will be in 4K as well.
'Amazon's Top Gear' Budget
Though the information for the deal was not public, according to the Financial Times the deal was worth £160 million. Additionally the report also said that the deal was "one of the largest ever agreed by a digital streaming group"; double the price that Netflix has paid for 2 seasons of House of Cards.
Yes, Jeremy Clarkson might be new to it, but he will be doing the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear' himself. He has started his own production company, although he told Sunday Times that he still has a lot to learn.
Since all aspect like 'The Stig', 'Reasonably Priced Car and the 'Cool Wall' are all properties of BBC so they need to start from scratch. I hope they have some form of 'The Stig' though, I believe he is part of the Top Gear trio.
Title of the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear'
Now here's the most intriguing part; the fact that the trio is already filming and there's still no announcement when it comes to the title of the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear'. There are reports that it'll be "Gear Knobs" or "Speedbird", but Jeremy Clarkson debunked 'Gear Knobs' through twitter saying, "I see that many people think our new show is called Gear Knobs. Well you heard it here first. It isn't."
So, Speedbird, I guess?
How to Watch the Show
Well, here's the only sad part about the whole deal, before you can watch the trio for free through BBC, but this time you'll need to subscribe to Amazon Prime for £79 a year in order to watch the show. But hey, it's for the whole year, so I guess it's a good deal.
Total Number of 'Amazon's Top Gear' Episodes
So far the deal for the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear' is composed of 3 seasons/series with 12 episodes per season/series.
However this will be different. Most online shows are broadcasted per season, however this show will be broadcasted per episode.
However the upcoming 'Amazon's Top Gear' won't have any adverts, so there's that.
