Avatar Sequels Cast, Plot and Spoilers: Avatar 2 Set To Be Released in 2017, Sigourney Weaver Will Come Back as Dr. Grace Augustine

By Val P.

Last January, James Cameron announced that the release of Avatar 2 will be pushed back to December 2017 from the initial 2016 plan. The delay is merely due to the simultaneous shoot for the sequels Avatar 2 to 4 and some polishing that has to be done with the scripts. According to Cameron, getting the story to work as a saga across three films is really complex and that's where the challenge sets in.

Although the plot details have not been revealed yet, Cinema Blend reported that Cameron has said that the sequels will introduce "whole new worlds, habitats and cultures". However, the plot is rumored to revolve around the protagonist Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington in the first film, going to a different planet but the sequel will see a return to the ocean ecosystem for Pandora, according to Gospel Herald.

We will still see in Avatar 2, Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana as Neytiti from the first movie. A comeback will be made by Dr. Grace Augustine, played by Sigourney Weaver, who died in the first Avatar but was confirmed to be included in the cast of the next two films. How the revival will be possible can only be answered on December 2017, when the second movie is launched in the big screens. Colonel Miles Quaritch played by Stephen Lang in 2009 will also be returning as a major antagonist in the second film.

According to Cinema Blend, James Cameron has some big plans for the technology side of the second, third and fourth Avatar movie. He has mentioned about filming the movie at higher frame rates using performance capture underwater so we can only expect more improvements and development from the first movie in 2009. One thing's obvious; James Cameron sure knows how to keep up with all the high expectations from the viewers, for him to top what he did with the first Avatar movie.
