Narcos Season 2: Teaser Trailer Reveals Premiere Date
By Yumi Redfield
For those who have been following Narcos closely, it is not a surprise that the upcoming second season have almost confirmed that they will be showing Pablo Escobar's death, with the very minimalistic teaser trailer that was just recently released.
In the Narcos season 2 teaser trailer, they simply showed 3 dates. The first one, being 12.01.49, which is the birth date of Pablo Escobar, being December 1, 1949. The second date that was shown in Narcos season 2 teaser trailer is 12.02.93, December 2, 1993, the date of his death, which is only a day after his birthday. The last date shown is 09.02.16, September 2, 2016, which is the premiere date for the second season of Narcos.
It really isn't surprising that the second season of Narcos will be featuring the death of Pablo Escobar since the producers have already voiced their views regarding the story of the second season of Narcos. In a recent round table interview with Eric Newman, SlashFilm quoted him about the upcoming season season, saying, "Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show... He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."
With the huge drug smuggling machinery that the Medellin cartel has put into place, the death of Pablo Escobar was not able to really stop the 'war on drugs'. So even though it is still not confirmed that there will be a third season of Narcos, the team will still have a lot of material they can work with if Netflix opts to have more than 2 seasons of the hit series.
Narcos season 2 will be released on Netflix on September 2.
