Tekken 7 Latest News and Release Date: Projecting Tekken 7 Release Date
By Jeff Villanueva
And it looks like Bandai Namco Entertainment has finally stopped releasing playable characters of Tekken 7.
Much to the disappointment of many gamers and fans outside Japan where playing Tekken 7 was limited; Bandai seemed to stop releasing playable characters after making the Mishima matriarch, Kazumi Mishima, available back in June 2, 2015.
Numbers of Playable Characters in Tekken 7 Downsized?
Initially making available 20 characters upon release, one by one with no particular time frame, Bandai added seven more playable characters in Tekken 7, in chronological order: Jin Kazama (March 31, 2015), Devil Jin (April 7, 2015), Josie Rizal (April 21, 2015), Gigas (April 28, 2015), Yoshimitsu (May 12, 2015), Jack-7 (May 19, 2015) and of course Kazumi (June 2, 2015).
Of the current 27 characters, eight of them made their debut (as well as first time playable) at Tekken 7: Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Josie Rizal, Gigas, Jack-7 and Kazumi Mishima.
Are there reasons or causes why the delay in releasing additional characters?
Tekken 7's predecessor - Tekken 6 - boasts a total of 42 playable characters, ten more characters than its predecessor Tekken 5. As what Tekken executive producer Katsuhiro Harada said at PlayStation: The Official Magazine, "The number of playable characters will be bigger than Tekken 5 and be the largest roster in the series."
Do they plan to downsize the numbers this time? Will they be adding new and come backing character/s once they release Tekken 7?
Possible Release Date of Tekken 7
Still, Bandai Namco's lips are sealed when it comes to the release date of Tekken 7. Why? Many are speculating (wishing and hoping as well) that Tekken 7 be released by the end of the 2015.
This might not be possible.
How about 2016?
Let's just give an example to demonstrate the timeline of release of Tekken. Since Tekken was released initially on arcade, newer platforms have been accommodated to reach out to more gamers. As such, Bandai created Tekken in PlayStation and for the first time at Tekken 6, on Xbox platform.
Tekken 6 was first released in arcade November 26, 2007, again only in Japan. One year and eleven months later, it was made available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and then on PlayStation Portable a month later.
Based on the timeline in releasing PlayStation and Xbox version of Tekken 6, will it be safe to say that Tekken 7 might come up at the latter part of 2016 or early 2017 given that the arcade version was released March 18 of this year? And just to add, this will be the first time that a Tekken game will be created using Unreal Engine 4.
Now, when's the release date of Tekken 7 again?
