The Legend of Tarzan: A Fresh Take on Classic Tale, Trailer, News, Cast, Updates

There has been countless adaptations and remakes of Tarzan, from the book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs ‘Tarzan of the Apes’. The upcoming live action adaptation, The Legend of Tarzan, might’ve been odd when it was first announced, but the director chosen for the film, and the cast assembled for The Legend of Tarzan just might make it work.
The Legend of Tarzan is not simply another origin story, the upcoming 2016 remake shows Tarzan already having adapted to life in England with his wife Jane Porter, back to the literal jungle he grew up in.
Director: David Yates
The Legend of Tarzan is directed by David Yates, the director most famous for directing the last four installments of the Harry Potter series. David Yates is also helming the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Alexander Skarsgård stars as the titular character Tarzan, also known as John Clayton III in England. Alexander Skarsgård is most known for his role in HBO’s True Blood as the vampire Eric Northman, but he has also been part of films like Zoolander and Battleship.
Margot Robbie will be playing Tarzan’s wife, Jane Porter, in The Legend of Tarzan. The Australian actress seems very busy these days as along with The Legend of Tarzan, she will also be seen in upcoming movies Suicide Squad and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Another movie, Terminal, is currently in pre-production.
Sir John Hurt stars as Prof. Archimedes in The Legend of Tarzan. Sir John Hurt has been seen in a variety of movies and TV series including Aliens, Doctor Who, V for Vendetta, and of course, Harry Potter.
Christopher Waltz will be playing the antagonist Captain Léon Rom, a corrupt and merciless captain, whose character is based on a real life person of the same name.
Academy Award nominated actor Djimon Hounsou is also part of The Legend of Tarzan as Chief Mbonga.
Last but definitely not the least is badass actor Samuel L. Jackson who will be playing George Washington Williams in The Legend of Tarzan, a minister, politician, lawyer, journalist, American Civil War veteran, and a historian of the African-American history.
The Legend of Tarzan is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2016.
